but goals for the night:

1. write a 10 page script
2. make a song in garageband
3. update the blog at least 6 times outlining how bored i am.
4. possibly masturbate. just maybe.

i'll keep you posted.

here's a picture from my ride here.. its the verrazano(sp?) narrows bridge

tonight at 10 pm im leaving for home (las vegas)... no promises on the frequency of updates...but keep checking in, because there should be some interesting stuff in the next few weeks.

friday and saturday

FRIDAY

after a long week of work and classes (ha!) me,maggie, anna, and justin decided to "wind down" (read: get drunk) during happy hour at "the cosmic cantina".. home of the SUPER PITCHER. yes. for 16 dollars you can get a little more than a GALLON of beer.

so time passed and that pitcher was finished, so what else could we do but attempt to order a 2nd pitcher within happy hour time... we just had to save that extra dollar. alas. we were not in time, but we got the 2nd pitcher anyways and by the end of it we were all pretty loose.

maggie: "how many super pitchers have we torn through, anna?"

anna: "two"

maggies friends emma and amanda showed up later and had one regular pitcher, then we left for sophie's

once at sophies, i had a little more to drink which put me into the land of "irrational".. i stumbled to their fantastic jukebox, reached into my pocket and pulled out the only bill i had. a 5. i didn't have the energy to walk to the bar and get change, so i just bought 15 plays. good music, but i really wish i had kept 4 of that 5 and settled for 3 plays.

maggie posing with her bottle of pabst (anyone who has only had pabst out of a can doesn't know what they are missing. bottled pabst is the best domestic beer. there, i said it.) she is also posing with her new sweater she bought on the way because of the cold.

so after this we stumbled to crif dogs then went home.

SATURDAY

every eyar, a school in new york (state, not city) called SUNY purchase puts on a big, two day free music festival called "Culture Shok" this year's line up was pretty stellar. cat power, lightning bolt, bonnie prince billy, animal collective, magnolia electric co., etc etc. unfortunately, we couldnt make it up on friday so i missed animal collective, but saturday, me, kati, sasha, and kensey met at washington square park to take the PATH train to jersey to get sasha's car and drive to purchase. it was a mini road trip to warm up for my mammoth road trip next week(!!!) with robbie.

new jersey! it's not as ugly a state as people make it out to be. i liked it.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

kensey attempting to make sense of the TERRIBLE mapquest directions the resulted in us getting lost for about an hour.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

i attempted to get a picture of sasha'a manic singing along to a song (which i cant remember), but i seem to have caught her at her most subdued.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

kati fell asleep for a bit.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

so we finally got there after about 2 hours on the road. it was everything you should expect from an outdoor festival. carnival games, carnival food, bad bands scattered amongst the few good, outrageous hipster fashion, perfect weather, people fucked out of their mind on drugs. it was great.

kensey, kati and sasha went completely insane and ate pretty much anything that was fried or covered in sugar. i think at last count between them they had eaten 4 corn dogs, a "blooming onion", a funnel cake (admittedly, i helped them with this one), a sausage with peppers, fries, cotton candy, lemonade and...

a rock-hard candy apple. (note kensey in the background, looking on in horror/envy)

lightning bolt played in the middle of the grass and people went FUCKING NUTS. the band is somewhere in front of those two speakers.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

then right after lightning bolt came cat power. she played a fantastic set, but (on account of bad event planning and bad manners) she was put on before "mr. vegas" who is a reggae dj/singer/whatever. so mid-way through her extremely quiet set, the reggae and hip hop fans started pushing their way through the crowd and were being extremely loud and obnoxious. eventually she stopped playing, mouthed the words "im sorry" and walked off stage.

it was nice while it lasted though.

spring day

last night i was having trouble getting to sleep, so i had the genius idea to not go to sleep but what good is not sleeping without a crackpot scheme? i decided to ride the train into manhattan to CONQUER THE ENORMOUS OMELETTE SANDWICH at burger king.

weighing in at 275 grams, the enormous omelette sandwich lives up its name. with 760 calories and a whopping 50 grams of fat, it is a fierce competitor. let's see how this goes, sportsfans.

and there it is. wrapped. taunting nick. Image hosted by Photobucket.com
(note: although it looks like its wrapped in a white plastic bag, its actually wrapped in greasy, greasy paper)

and it's come out. look at that little blimp of animal products. Image hosted by Photobucket.com

end of round one: nick is clearly in the lead. (even though that cheese is looking unphased)Image hosted by Photobucket.com

round two: nick isn't looking too good. he's starting to slow at this point. he's also run out of orange juice(forcing him to eat without liquid, or 'neck' the sandwich) Image hosted by Photobucket.com

round 3: nick has gotten a second wind! at this point he had gotten an (unpictured) glass of water and has taken a commanding lead over the sandwich.

at this point the batteries in my camera died when i tried to take a self portrait of the last bite of the sandwich. i was FURIOUS but i couldnt just leave a little bit of the sandwich and go buy more batteries, so i just had to shake my head, finish the sandwich and celebrate my victory alone.

the ipod soundtrack for the day was varied, but the recurring album was emiliana torrini's new
album, the fisherman's wife. its a great spring album. the standout track for today was "at least it was"

download it here:

Emiliana Torrini - At Least it Was

becasuse of my las vegas upbringing, i've really been spoiled in terms of weather,.. so after braving the harsh new york winter, this string of good weather has raised my spirits so much its hard to even describe.

ahhh spring. you came just at the right time.

new update method

so im updating a new way now, and it seems that on other computers (jason's) some text is going to the side of the pictures instead of staying on top of them.. if this is happening to anyone else post a comment and ill figure something out.

last friday

so i wasn't planning on updating because barely any pictures came out... but i'm bored and needed to test this photobucket thing (and if it works, this means faster and more frequent updates.. my past updates were taking me about 2 hours each.)

so mine and jason's friend from school, nick, had a party last friday at his house (yes a full house in brooklyn, it ruled)... the only problem was that the subways would have taken a long time (especially at 11), so we decided to walk from our apartment to his. it was pretty epic (note that they call parkslope "park slope" because its a big slope up to the park. aka alot of the walk was uphill) our trip is in orange.

jason and rizzo on the 9th and 5th (where we turned to go up towards the park, reference the map)
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

so we finally got there after about 45 minutes.

justin and jason (blurrily) celebrating their arrival with what seems to be a glass of raspberry pucker (which i now have stains of on my shoes.. is it possible that i drank that insanely sugary, disgusting drink that night as well?)

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

jason and (future roommate, i think) mike! you might recognize mike from a previous post. you might not. who knows.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

and hey, look who showed up. it's athena! i hadn't seen her in what felt like forever. here she is posing with my double chin.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

maggie (i was bummed because she wasn't originally going to come because of dinner with her dad or some bullshit reason like that) showed up a little late, but still managed to pull a face or two (or like 9, she really cant get enough of the camera, it seems)
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

and there's jason with the man of the night, nick. he put on the party and he rules.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

we then left and rode the train all the way into the city for a little crif dogs fix. kati and kensey met us there and we hung out for the rest of the night and stumbled home at 6am.

great night.

update.

im totally blowing it by not updating.. but i really do nothing. so i therefore have nothing to update.

i havent abandoned this though... im partying this weekend, so check back.

one of the hardest things in recent memory.

i love writing about and showing you me and my friends and i like the fact that i've decided to keep this blog pretty removed from my personal self. but tonight somehting happened and i need to use this. and this is me at my most candid.

angela drunk dialed me tonight.

i havent spoken to her since mid january and she drunk dialed me.

i dont know what about it was so hard, but i just felt this immense feeling of millions of things. happiness, anger, vitriolic hatred, utter sadness.

im just mad. mad that things didn't work. i try to convince myself that things have been better since her. and they have in terms of making friends and laughing and stuff.. but its different. its hard to explain, but im sure anyone who has had a long relationship knows exactly what im feeling.

im mad because she had to be drunk talk to me. we used to share everything with eachother. we were best friends and now she can only call me when she's drunk.

its heartbreaking to see someone you loved for such a long time and invested so much in change so drastically and suddenly.

in a word.. tonight was devastating.

cookie mongoloid show + 24 hr mcdonalds

not much was going on last night (friday) so a few of us decided to take a chance on a show at tonic. i say we "took a chance" on the show, but the names and concepts of both of the bands are just so amazing there was really no doubt that is was going to be a great show...

the first band was HAUNTED PUSSY. a sort of metal/vaudeville/opera band with two female singers, a guitar player (using the guitar of the future (from 1980) STEINBERGER) and a drummer (who showed up mid-first song. their set was intentionally limited to 20 minutes, and it was a rock opera centering around the subject of ghost rape.

the whole thing seemed completely improvised.. which made it that much better.

sorry i didnt get more pictures.. i was too busy just kind of staring on in awe.

then on came possibly the greatest live band ever. definitely the best performance i have seen in new york as of yet. the band was COOKIE MONGOLOID from san francisco. they really defy explanation, so ill let the pictures and limited captions tell the story.

yes. a band fronted by cookie monster.

here's him with the "cookie uzi" which was essentially an air gun he would fill up with actual cookies and shoot towards the crowd.. but if you notice all the spots in the picture.. all that really happened was the crowd getting showered in cookie crumbs.

they had about 6 dancers in front of the stage the entire show, either dancing or handing out fake cardboard cookies.

here's the cookie monster in the circle pit during "me lost me cookie in the mosh pit"

as we stood outside after the show, we were all wide awake from the spectale we had just witnessed...so where else could we have gone but the 24 hour mcdonalds on delancey?

kati looked on in disapproval as...

...jason posed with sleeping/passed out hispanic 'road warrior'!

drunk sleeping people is anything but an uncommon occurence at this mcdonalds... i cant find it now, but there's a whole set of pictures at ikeepadiary that show that this mcdonalds is the HQ for sleeping (well, the secondary HQ.. i've never been to a white castle where at least two homeless people weren't sleeping at a table...but white castle is a whole other monster)

lori (from las vegas! and high school!) doesnt realize that when someone with a blog takes your picture, you aren't supposed to acknowledge them..much less wave! ugh lori come on! (see.. maggie's got it.. she even appears to be rolling her eyes! +2 points for maggie).

justin maggie and lori all looking very shocked by the size of kati's ice cream cone (admittedly.. they weren't all that shocked.. i just told them to look like it.. im a fraud)

here is byron (as he put it) "searching through trash like a bear" (this photo really suffers without the noise that accompanied it)

joe decided to one up him by doing some other animal (that i cant remember now.. but from the picture im guessing it was a t-rex)

and here's a picture of joe's AMAZING custom made "neighborhoodie"

UPDATE: Maggie's pictures:

great picture of cookie mongloid

great looks all around
