karaoke

me, jason and athena had all been tlaking about karaoke sometime soon, but we never quite got around to it. so here was saturday night, and after a shitty friday, we decided that we were doing karaoke tonight, rain or shine, blizzard or tsunami. luckily, when we got to williamsburg, it was a great night, and a short walk to the karaoke club. a great night then transpired.

here's jason at the start of the night, waiting for athena to finish her sparks (brown bag+straw=beautiful, beautiful trash.)

ok so we sat down at this corner booth type thing that there were some dirnks at.. but nobody had sat there... so we're sitting there for a good couple minutes and this guy walks up and is like (big time eastern european accent)"hey guys, we've got this table saved" and we're like "we'll just stay here until the rest of your group gets here." and just to try tog et on his good side and keep the booth i was like "that's quite the accent.. are you from around here?" and he was like "im part owner" then we just sat in silence until his friend brought their two euro-skanks to the booth.

here's me and jason before the booth ousting. i've got the "you've got to be fucking kidding me, you euro trash bastard" look on my face. jason isn't too phased.

so after the booth incident, we luckily found another table in the place (which was super crowded, more than it had ever been in the past)

here's jason playing the solo to bohemian rhapsody on his invisble guitar... and his mastery of the air AXE was so hypnotic, it put athena into some sort of trance

but luckily she snapped out of the trance quickly enough to serenade stupp with Wham!'s classic ballad, careless whispers.

"...should have known better than to cheat a friend..."

athena's performance was so moving, jason couldn't manage his emotions.

so earlier in the night i had gotten a call from this kid named jorge i had gotten to know in a few classes of mine last semester, and it just so happened he was in the neighborhood, so he came by and hung out.

Jorge!

when he first came in, jason recognized him from one of his classes this semester. the first thing jason said to him was "don't you hate that fucking bitch who always comes into class late and then argues with the teacher about it"

and there was a pause...

jorge: "me and her are sort of... together."

silence.

more silence.

jason: "oh shit dude, im sorry."

jorge was super cool about it though, and the night was salvaged! it wasn't even awkward for the rest of the night. kudos, jorge.

jason somehow recovered from that terrible moment by belting out a fantastic rendition of "somebody to love" by jefferson airplane (an homage to the cable guy, one of the most underrated dark comedies EVER)

"do-do-dont you neeeeed somebody to love?" (apparently athena does.)

justin revealing our song selection to athena, who was so moved by it she needed to fondle herself just to make sure she wasn't dreaming.

and then finally the time came. the vocoder part came over the speakers, and everybody knew it was time....

for some CALIFORNIA LOVE

i did dr. dre's part, justin took over tupac.. and we didn't miss a fucking WORD.

"...a state that's untouchable like Eliott Ness..."

"from oakland to sac town, the bay area and back down..."

(note: that woman and her boyfriend were at the booth next to us all night and they were GREAT. they got mega drunk and just KEPT GOING. god bless them.)

our performance was so moving, it convinced these two east coast natives to change affiliation over to the west side. stupp is actually trying to do the west-side sign, but he's missing parts of his two middle fingers*

(note: *not really.)

and so ended one of the best nights in recent memory. here's jason with the guy from the couple that was next to us all night.

Comments:
california love. wow. jason looks classy with that fancy glass in that last picture.

Yes. That fancy glass of water.

I am frightening, but these are awesome nevertheless. Hooray for digital love. -A
