missing school.
i hate school. there are few things on earth that i hate more. but i usually go.. if not for any other reason, than just to kill boredom. but today i was on the phone with the gas company for like a half hour (whole other story, dont get me started). the call was supposed to be a quick thing right before i left the house... then i ended up being on hold for like 15 minutes, then being on the phone for an additional 15 minutes. all of this being coupled with a teacher who said "if you miss class, it's not a huge deal" made it really hard to say no to an additional day off of school (with no friday class and presidents day, that would make this an epic 5 DAY WEEKEND)
but this time, unlike other times when i miss school, i decided to do something somewhat productive. i noticed i had some books that were overdue (overdue as in checked out in october.) so i decided to have a nice walk up to the park and over to the library. the weather here has been weird. it'll snow one day, rain the next, then be sunny and warm the next. luckily today was a "sunny and warm" day, so i went outside wearing jeans and a hoodie (in new york! in february! perfect, right?) and brought the trusty digital with me.
here's 9th street, between 7th and 8th ave. beautiful block.
(note: if you notice, everything is on a slope. the part of brooklyn is called park slope, so the next logical thing to see is...)

(look at the picture, then close your eyes and imagine grass and all of those bare trees with leaves on them...central what? there are other parks worth mentioning in new york?)
if i've ever doubted it in the past, today reaffirmed it: I LOVE BROOKLYN.
